Gio Ponti ‘Triennale’ armchairs

Item: ‘Triennale’ armchairs Designer: Gio Ponti Manufacturer: I.S.A. Bergamo Demensions: 41 7/8” h x 24 1/4” w x 28 7/8” d Material: ebonized walnut, brass and fabric Date made: 1951 Country of origin: Italy Literature: Domus, no. 280 March 1953 Irene de Gutty and Maria Paola Maino, II Mobile Italiano Degli Anni ‘40 e ‘50. Bari, 1992 p. 237 Salvatore Licitra, Gio Pont, Cologne, 2021 p.378 Sold with a letter of authenticity from the Ponti Archive. Metal label ‘I.S.A.’ underneath each chair. Provenance: The Count Luigi of the Lega Baldini family of Brisighella (Ravenna), who passed away in December 2022, in 2020 sold some furniture to an acquaintance of his sister, Mrs.Gisella Del Negro. Among the furniture was a pair of Gio Ponti ‘Triennale’ armchairs. According to his sister, the chairs have been in the family’s second house since she was a child. This information is supported by an invoice from Baldini to Del Negro in 2020. The armchairs were acquired from Del Negro in 2023.
