Late 20th Century Charlotte Armchair by Mario Botta, Italy, 1994

About the Item

The hallmark of Mario Botta’s architecture, characterized by purely geometric and cleverly interconnected volumes, is clearly visible in the Charlotte chair, edited by Horm. The cylindrical element is the starting point that, in the upper section, extends up inside to create a chair that seems suspended in mid-air. The large yet empty volumes make Charlotte a monolithic yet lightweight chair. An example of skillful craftsmanship in a sophisticated, modern design, this pair of armchairs comprise a structure in metal covered entirely by natural wicker. Woven by hand, the wicker is in perfect condition and considered as a sign of the high quality of the material used.
