Lounge chair model 'Københavnerstolen', in mahogany and leather, by Mogens Voltelen for Niels Vodder, Denmark, 1936.
This is the so called Copenhagen chair by Mogens Voltelen. This chair shows beautiful lines as seen on the arched legs on the back of the chair, which run over into the seating. The leather strap armrests make a nice mirrored line to the curved legs. The frame is from beautiful colored mahogany. Covered in cognac saddle leather with nice classical furniture nails. The cognac leather shows a stunning patina. Inspired on classical Spanish folk chairs in addition of Danish modern elements.
Mogens Voltelen (1908-1995) studied architecture in Copenhagen. After his degree, he worked together with Poul Henningsen and Vilhem Lauritzen.
This chair was produced by Niels Vodder. Vodder often worked together with designer Finn Juhl.
