About the Item

"Nemo" is a polyethylene monobloc fixed or swivel iconic head-armchair, designed by Fabio Novembre and manufactured by Driade, available in white, black, gray or red matt colors. Swivel version is for indoor use only. Red fixed version and black, white and gray fixed or swivel versions only are available in quick ship. DIMENSIONS: D. 32.6", W. 35.4", H. 53.1", Seat H. 16.1" FABIO NOVEMBRE uses furniture design to tell intense and fascinating stories in which the protagonist is often the human figure. This human figure is capable of becoming abstract and universal, able to propose a mythical beauty as occurred in Greek art. So that Nemo, a face with classic features, is hollowed out to create an inhabitable space. The result is a head-armchair to be lived from the inside. Like a mask, it simultaneously conceals and reveals its inhabitant. Fabio Novembre said about Nemo: "In 2010 it happened that the name "Nemo" immediately evoked the famous little fish, protagonist of the movie of the same name, made by Pixar in 2003. If this question had been asked at the end of the nineteenth century, the answer would have probably been Captain Nemo, the protagonist of "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" novel, written by Jules Verne in 1870. Going further back in time to the classical age, around 800 b.C, Nemo was the name chosen by Odysseus in order to deceive Polyphemus, the infamous cyclops of Homer's epic poem. Ulysses, used to disguise, declares that his name is Nemo ("No one"), in order to escape from a certain death: the destruction of the personality under the survival instinct. Despite I deeply feel a man of my era, the Greek origins of my native land make me link Nemo with Odysseus. Hence a name becomes a mask used to hide an identity. Mask which in the Greek theatre is also called "persona" ("person"), recalling the name sound that plays the part of amplifying the voice. It's a project born between the drawing by Gio' Ponti of 1950 "Un disegno è un’idea" ("A drawing is an idea") and "One, "No One and One Hundred Thousand" novel by Pirandello, in order to create a new identity, with no sexual and geographical features. An identity denied for a renewed idea of collectivity, made of eyes searching each other, beyond borders and barriers".

By Gaetano Pesce, Zerodisegno
Located in Montecatini Terme, IT
The Faces chair from the Nobody's Perfect series is in resin with plastic pegs, designed by Gaetano Pesce and produced by Zerodisegno 2005. With the manufacturer's brand stamped on the back-side. Gaetano Pesce is a prominent contemporary Italian designer and architect known for his bold experimentation with materials and color. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with some of Italy's leading design companies, including Artemide, Vitra, Cassina, and B&B Italia. Born in 1939 in La Spezia, near Genoa, Pesce enrolled at the University of Venice in 1959 to study architecture and graduated in 1965. During the final years of his studies, he also participated in courses at the Venice College of Industrial Design, where he was influenced by distinguished faculty members like Ernesto Nathan Rogers and Mario Bellini. Encouraged by their teachings to embrace innovation in modern design, Pesce became involved with an avant-garde architectural collective called “Gruppo N,” which drew inspiration from the streamlined aesthetics of the Bauhaus. These diverse inspirations equipped Pesce to embrace contemporary materials and explore the forms they enabled. His designs range from small decorative objects to large architectural spaces and reflect deep contemplation of the modern era. Notable works include his iconic La Mamma...

Designed by Fabio Novembre and born in 2013, the Jolly Roger armchair is Gufram's first product to be moulded and the first to be free of polyurethane soft parts. Jolly Roger is a seat reminiscent of a skull, with a world map embossed on the back of the seat used by pirates of the Pacific. Consistent with the attitude of all Gufram products, Jolly Roger, far from boring interior design standards, is an armchair that represents a free stance. From the name "Pirate Chair...
