Pair of French 19th Century Belle Époque Period Mahogany & Ormolu Armchairs
About the Item
A stunning and high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. mahogany and ormolu Bergères à Oreilles. Each armchair is raised by elegant circular tapered fluted legs with fine fitted ormolu chandelles, topie shaped feet and beautiful foliate top caps. Above each leg are striking block reserves below additional fluted and fitted chandelles and large acanthus leaf ormolu mounts. Extending along the lightly curved frieze and sides are lovely berried laurel ormolu bands. The attractive curved arm display a cushioned arm rest and additional richly chased foliate ormolu mounts and berried laurel band extending along the top. The armchairs are also upholstered at the back and sides.
