About the Item

A genuine late 19th century Burmese teak bench from Myanmar (Burma). A quality piece of craftmanship, with pegged joints and hand crafted throughout, an authentic piece of Myanmar furniture and a rare find in this condition. A large 3-seater bench with great detail and a wonderful depth of colour to the wood. The narrow slatted timber seat has a slight curve for comfort, the purpose made cushion seat is a later addition and comes with the piece. Seat Height = 46cm / 18inch Arm Height = 73cm / 28.75inch Length at legs = 186cm / 73.25inch History The Bench was purchased from an antiques market in Myanmar where the previous owner had it restored by local craftsmen. Luckily the piece was saved and shipped back to the UK when the civil unrest (Myanmar Spring Revolution) broke out in 2021.

19th C Jacobean Renaissance Carved Oak High Back Cane 3 Seater Hall Bench Settee
Located in Llanbrynmair, GB
A decorative and well presented 19th Century Jacobean renaissance carved oak three seater high back bench settee.  A superb quality piece with ornate arched back and cane inset panels. A lovely contrast with dark, almost ebonised wood frame, and light coloured cane seating. Gently curved arms, which are very inviting, are typical of this style.  The bench sits on eight legs, all connected by their original turned stretchers with additional decorative arched mounded stretchers to the front.  A good sized, well proportioned piece with generous seat.  The three seat design provides a lovely balanced and symmetrical feel to the piece. Seat height = 46cm / 18" The piece is in excellent condition, there are a couple of historic repairs to the arched tops (see photos) but these are well made repairs and are in-keeping with the piece.  The bench is sturdy with the cane seating also in excellent order.  The item is clean and ready for installation. Provenance: This piece sat for many years at the famous London...
