17th Century Quaker Style Chair

About the Item

This is a truly rare opportunity to own an authentic one-of-a-kind piece of worldly history. Originating from the picturesque rolling countryside of Lancashire, England circa 1650-1670 and brought to North America in the late 17th century settling in the small Amish town of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; this piece has been proudly and lovingly preserved and passed down for generations upon generations in honor and remembrance of its true heritage and original roots. Constructed of rich solid walnut this handmade treasure was built to withstand the test of time. Mortise and tenon joints are observed throughout demonstrating a true labor of love and skillful artisanship utilizing techniques dating well back to ancient times. At approximately 350+ years old there is still good life left and, with proper care, it is sure to last for many more generations to come. An exquisite example of craftsmanship clearly indicative of the Quaker principalities of practicality and simplicity at its finest. This primitive, farmhouse style chair is exceptionally rich in history with a life that has spanned through centuries. A truly extraordinary accent piece to add to your collection of antique treasures evoking the nostalgia and rustic appeal of the 17th century. Perfect fit for a country kitchen or cabin theme. This mid 17th century handmade Quaker style chair is in good antique condition overall commensurate with age, with only minor repairs observed at the base of the backrest to stabilize the joinery and retain functionality over the course of its history. However, care has been duly taken with the highest priority extended to preserve its authenticity, without compromise, as much as possible. No repairs or adjustments have been performed over the last 100+ years. Please examine photos carefully for details. Backrest is a bit wobbly, however, the joinery is secure.
