"4854" Chair by Gae Aulenti for Kartell, 1968

About the Item

Designed by Gae Aulenti for Kartell in the 1968, the 4854 chair is made of white ABS plastic and lacquered white and features Aulenti's characteristic curved lines and edges. Her work with Kartell is no longer produced and fairly uncommon. This chair predates her work with Knoll, which she is more commonly known for. This was part of a collection that included coffee tables and lounge chairs. The matching lounge chair won the Compasso D'oro industrial design award in 1974. It is an interesting and uncommon early design that was not produced past the 70s.
