Carved Dutch Curule Chair, circa 1895

About the Item

With a curule, throne like design and intricate Dutch carvings, this exquisite Dagobert style chair is a masterpiece. Crafted from oak and finished with a dark stain, the chair features a shaped cresting rail carved with a gentleman's face amid scrolled leaves, flanked by decorative finials; a backrest of three dancing characters dressed in traditional Dutch attire with portions of a ship's helm at the top corners, which is fitting given the sea faring history of the Dutch; and a scooped, slat seat. Enjoy its comfortable scrolled armrests and elegant curves as you relax in its timeless splendor. Seat height is 15.5 inches.
