Early 19th C. Pair of Carved-Column Back Wooden Hall Chairs

About the Item

A European pair of carved-wood hall chairs from the 19th century. This antique pair of chairs from Europe each feature a highly decorated backrest with a relief carvings depicting a pair of ornate columns adorn with a foliate motif, floral medallion, and outer top ends embellished with outward facing bird heads. The rectangular seats are raised upon four reeded and outward canted legs. The wood has a lovely old patina; a reflection of their history and prior use. This early 19th century pair of chairs, with their uniquely carved open back-rests, would make a wonderful pair of hall chairs or perhaps nice accent chairs in a living room or study.
