The Plia folding chair is an inventive and beautiful design by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli in 1967, Italy. This icon is included in every standard publication on 20th century (furniture) design. It has a simple folding mechanism so the chair can easily be stored and serve for occasional use. Chrome plated steel frame with transparent plexiglass seat and back panel. Excellent original condition and multiple chairs available. The chair is signed and engraved with the manufacturer's mark.

Giancarlo Piretti
Giancarlo Piretti was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1940. He attended art schools there and subsequently taught Interior Design. During that time, he was also designing furniture for Anonima Castelli. He has won numerous awards and has items in many museums, including MoMA, New York. He still lives and works in Bologna with his son, designer Alessandro Piretti.
