British Country Armchair in Ash
Located in Houston, TX
British country armchair in ash. This Georgian period chair's design is unusual and is attributed to an anonymous craftsman operating in the Lancashire parish of Wigan during the late 18th century. This chair features turned uprights, with domed and nipple finials, connected by wavy line slats and boldly turned stretchers and legs. The patina of its dark honey-brown color finish is excellent. Chair's low seat is ideal for fireside seating...

Set of 8 Georgian Farmhouse Dining Chairs
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
An Extremely Charming Harlequin matched set of eight, late 18th century Georgian, ash and elm farmhouse kitchen dining chairs, consisting 6 single chairs and 2 armchairs, with elegant wavy ladderbacks over rushed seats, raised on turned legs and cross stretchers.
Most designs of ladderback armchairs which were made in the 18th and 19th centuries can be referenced to a particular area of the United Kingdom as they nearly always had individual design quirks. These are no different, the relatively flat, chunky top rail and large ladder slates normally being attributed to the Wigan area of Lancashire.
Another nice feature of these particular chairs is that they are genuinely Georgian, 18th Century, so therefore have some real character, lustre, patina and various other signs of life and use unlike so many late 19th, or even early 20th century examples which can be found on the market these days. Naturally this has resulted in various nicks, digs, scrapes and slices, but nothing that causes any issues with aither the aesthetics or the structural integrity of the chairs.
Overall they are in good functional condition. Ready to be placed immediately around a farmhouse dining table and put straight into use. The rush seats all appear to be in good order, clearly they have been re-rushed at some stage in the not too distant past and therefore shouldn't require doing again in the immediate future.
As is just about always the case with english country chairs...

Set of 6 Early 19th Century Spindle Back Dining Chairs
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A charming matched set of six early 19th century, English ash and elm, country farmhouse design, dining chairs having elegant double row of spindles with central carved fan to backs over rushed seats raised on turned legs united by turned stretchers.
These chairs are in good, functional condition. They have been through our traditional workshops for a wax polish and the joints have been tightened ensuring that the chairs are ready to go straight into use.
All of the rushed seats are in good order and we would expect that they have been re rushed relatively recently which is of course important when considering the cost and effort involved in having chairs like this re rushed these days.
The chairs are matched, which means that they did not not necessarily start life together as a set and this is of course the case with almost every set of country dining chairs...
