Rare pair of Danish modern fumed oak side chairs

About the Item

This rarely seen pair of side chairs (model 3-1) in slightly fumed oak was designed ca. 1956 by Danish designer Grete Jalk (1920-2006). These examples were executed by Poul Jeppesen, Denmark in the late 1950s. One chair labelled P. Jeppesen Møbelfabrik, Danmark. Design Grete Jalk. And both chairs stamped with ’DANISH Furnituremakers CONTROL™’. P. Jeppesen M.belfabrik was founded by Poul Jeppesen. P. Jeppesen møbelfabrik later became PJ Furniture and produced designs from modern masters like Grete Jalk, Ole Wanscher, Arne Hovmand-Olsen and Vilhelm Wohlert. Today the company has been bought by Carl Hansen & Son, Denmark. Literature: Mobilia 1957
