SESC Pompeia Chair by Lina Bo Bardi , 2022, Marcenaria Baraúna

About the Item

Design:Lina Bo Bardi, Marcelo Ferraz, André Vainer Material:Laminated Pine Designed by Lina Bo Bardi in 1986, this chair was designed for the library and dining room in the SESC Pompeia Cultural Center, a cultural facility in the São Paulo Pompei area. This is the first reissue in the world by CASA DE. For the "SESC Pompeia Cultural Center" project, Lina designed not only the building, but also the furniture, the staff uniforms, graphics, and everything else. The design is a collaboration between Lina Bo Baldi, Marcelo Fejas, and André Vayner, and is made up of four planks of wood made from layers of different colored woods. The chair has a wonderful brutalist design that brings the charm of the wood to life.

The angle of the wood on the seat allows the stool to fit and support the body in a position similar to a squatting posture. Small and practical, it can be placed by the fireplace or used as an entryway...
