FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE GREEN PAINTED DAYBED Late 19th/Early 20th Century Item # 502QRP20A This finely carved French Louis XVI Style daybed retains a wonderfully worn and abraded light and dark green painted surface, the losses exposing the beechwood frame beneath. The crest rail on either side has a soft bow with a central motif of flowers along the top and down the outer edges, flanked on either side by handsomely carved conical finials. The stiles are deeply reeded over carved rosettes at the joint of the side rails and stiles. The bed rests over typical turned and tapering fluted legs, the apron of the piece with a wonderful carved display of flowers along the center on all four sides. The rails affix into the headboards on either side with tenon-mortise joints and lock together with threaded bolts from inside of each rail, these coupled with an L-bracket above the rail to protect the structure from too much inward pressure. It is an absolutely gorgeous piece of a perfect size and wonderful form for anyone passionate about this timeless form. Measurements: 79 7/8" W x 31 1/8" D x 38 5/8" H; 9 3/8" H to top of bed rails, 5 3/4" additional height over bed rails for drop in frame, 3 1/4" height for first upholstered cushion, approximately 2-3" for second cushion Condition Report: Surface heavily worn, chipped and flaking. Upholstery in "fair" condition, being faded with minor stains and discolorations (note close up image on one more obvious stain). Two corners strengthened with added brace, all corners retaining their original L-brackets and bolts. Overall sturdy and strong, a beautiful and charming piece.
