An Exquisite and Rare French Leather Daybed Completely Original, Circa 1920's

About the Item

This exquisite French banquette is in the most extraordinary condition for its age. The leather is completely original and it still retains its burnt orange cotton velvet, seat cushion and matching ruched bolsters. The overall visual effect is just wonderfully pleasing to the eye. The leather is without fault and the stud-work is particularly pretty. Artisan made, we've never seen a prettier banquette, but to find one so beautifully preserved is genuinely quite exciting. The buttoned velvet seat pad and cushions have aged harmoniously with the bed to create and preserve a very beautiful piece of furniture. This banquette has the added benefit of being drop-arm, which is activated by a simple push of a pedal. The original Beech-shelf then becomes a fifth leg, so the user can enjoy the full length and recline in absolute comfort. The banquette was sourced from Labaroche, an ancient village in the Vosges mountains. The cool climate has no doubt contributed to this banquette's amazing preservation. All the spring-work has been checked and completed, it has a clean bill of health and is gorgeously comfortable. We have no doubt that this beautiful daybed will grace and elevate any space and setting. This a very special piece. Good luck, bonne chance! About Us: We've been sourcing original, leather club chairs for 20 years. Even though our stock is quite consistent, finding original club chairs in a very good, original condition is a constant challenge. With our partners in France, we are always on the look out and our chairs can be found anywhere from a local brocante to a chateau sale; from the north to the south of France. In our experience, nearly all of the chairs will need attention to the springs, after all they're not just objects of beauty, they are to be used. In addition, the leather on our chairs is always nourished and the upholstery cleaned. Our customers range from private homes, to hotels and clubs, film and fashion shoots. Our passion has not diminished and we endeavour to keep finding beautiful chairs for your pleasure.
