A Beautiful and Rare French Bar Football Table, Foosball, Table Football
About the Item
This beautiful and rare football table is definitely one for the collectors.
It’s been sympathetically restored therefore preserving some of its vin-tage charm, but at the same time being 100% usable.
To play these tables is to understand them, the pitch is flat and true and quite quick with a traditional cork ball. It has the most elegant me-chanical ball release we have seen on an original football table, a sim-ple turn of the beautiful cast iron and brass wheel, releases the balls to the ball catches on either side. The ball catches, being off centre, not only has an aesthetic quality but is practical, especially if you’re on the loosing side.
There are some lovely details to this table. The boxwood counters,
aluminium ashtrays, and brass detailing make this table very easy on the eye. It still has its original makers mark and address, which is in the in-side of the table, and not to sound too nerdy, this is an incredibly rare detail, as most are lost from use and over-restoration.
The wood I believe to be French chestnut. It certainly has a lovely pati-na. This is a wonderful piece, and they really are the best fun.
Who said brown furniture is boring!
