French 1950's solid elm L01 or "Godot" daybed by Pierre Chapo
Editions Chapo, France 1959.
The daybed is composed of a rectangular frame with characteristic box joints in every corner of the frame. The four cylinder shaped feet contrast with the sharp geometrical shape of the frame.
Inside the frame of the daybed a thin wooden panel with round perforations allows for free circulation of the air.
Its clean and sober lines and the low height of 30 cm make this an eye-catcher indoors as well as in an outdoor setting on a terrace or even in front of a pool.
This Godot daybed comes in a rare width of 126 cm which does not take too much space while offering a maximum of comfort and rest.

Pierre Chapo
Pierre Chapo, who was born in Paris, France, in July 1927, was initially interested in becoming a professional painter. However, after a chance meeting with a shipbuilder who introduced him to wood and woodworking, Chapo changed his focus and decided to study architectural studies at the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
After graduating, Chapo and his wife, the sculptor and painter Nicole Lormier, started traveling extensively through Scandinavia and Central America. Among the many places the couple visited was Taliesin West, the home and studio of Frank Lloyd Wright — a visit that had a lasting influence on Chapo’s future work and designs.
