Daniel Arsham, "Bamm-Bamm Bench", 2021
By Daniel Arsham
Located in New York, NY
Daniel Arsham [American, b.1980] Bamm-Bamm bench, 2021 Stone, resin, birch Measures: 18 x 57 x 23 inches 46 x 145 x 58 cm Edition of 8 Daniel Arsham’s practice exists at the intersection of art, architecture and performance. Through his work, Arsham poetically combines the past, present, and future, skirting the line between romanticism and pop art—while experimenting with the timelessness of certain symbols and cultural icons. Arsham was born in 1980 in Cleveland, Ohio. Raised in Miami, Arsham attended The Cooper Union where he received the Gelman Trust Fellowship Award in 2003. Upon graduation, Arsham toured worldwide with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company as the company’s stage designer for over four years—an experience that informed his ongoing synergistic practice. In 2007, he founded the pioneering architecture firm Snarkitecture with partner Alex Mustonen. Collaboration continues to be a key cornerstone of his practice—realizing high-profile projects with music producer Pharrell Williams and designer Hedi Slimane, as well as Dior, Porsche, and Rimowa. Objects for Living (2019), Arsham’s first collaboration with Friedman Benda, was inspired by Arsham’s recent renovation of his own Long Island home built in 1971 by the noted modernist architect Norman Jaffe...

Joris Laarman, "Maker Chair (Voronoi)", 2014
By Joris Laarman
Located in New York, NY
Joris Laarman [Dutch, b. 1979] Maker Chair (Voronoi), 2014 Walnut 30.75 x 23.75 x 25.5 inches 78 x 60 x 65 cm Edition of 16 Dutch designer, Joris Laarman, is internationally renowned for his utilization, and often innovation, of cutting-edge technology to create poetic, emotionally charged work that challenges the boundaries of design and science. Enlisting digital tools and parametric processes to create fluid forms inspired by nature, Laarman’s highly conceptual, groundbreaking work has redrawn the parameters of contemporary design. All that Laarman creates is imbued with his firm belief in the symbiosis between handcraft and technology, resolute in the Maker Chair. Composed of digitally fabricated 3-D parts that perfectly tesselate, the individual elements of the work are constructed by hand, like a puzzle, into a sweeping curve reminiscent of Verner Panton’s 1960’s injection-moulded chair...
