About the Item

Distinctive 'Gondola' chairs exceptionally well designed by Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates in the United States circa 1960s. Known for his daring designs which brought high style to the masses. The fluid lines and gondola shaped seat enhances the floating appearance which makes this an almost poetic design. Crafted with a finely sculpted wood legs which supports the frame. The back and the seat cushions are fully tufted and buttoned. The chairs have been completely restored and reupholstered button-tufted in a luxurious white fabric, adding a modern charm. Make a statement with this incredible design! Adrian Mount Pearsall was trained as an architectural engineer, a sailor and an innovative designer who founded Craft Associates, which became one of the country’s most prominent furniture designers during the mid-century “Atomic Age.” Adrian Pearsall is credited with the creation of long and low gondola sofas, free-form walnut and glass tables, and the popularization of the venerable bean bag chair. He went on to be included in the American Furniture Hall of Fame in 2008.
