Deck lounge Chair in by Fratelli Reguitti X Louis Vuitton, Italy, 1938

About the Item

A deck chair, designed in 1938 by Fratelli Reguitti in collaboration with Louis Vuitton, is a true masterpiece of craftsmanship and design. This chair is a perfect example of the exceptional quality and attention to detail that characterized the work of both Fratelli Reguitti and Louis Vuitton. It is made of high-quality wood, which has been carefully crafted to create a sturdy, yet elegant, frame. The leather that covers the chair is bordered with cross-stitch on the edges, adding a touch of sophistication to the design. The leather is stamped with the maker's mark, 'Maker GIGI'S Leather', on the underside, indicating its authenticity and quality. The chair has a rich history and provenance, having once been a part of a private collection in Padua. It also has been restored, with the seat reupholstered with the original leather and corresponding original stitching. The restoration was carried out by LMVH in the workshop of Roberto Sartolini, Fiesso d'Artico, who also worked for Louis Vuitton/LMVH Group. The restoration has not only preserved the beauty and authenticity of the chair but has also given it a striking patina that speaks to its age and usage. It is a beautiful and functional piece of furniture, designed with both style and comfort in mind. The condition of the chair is consistent with age and usage with some scuffs and marks, but we think this adds to its charm and character. In conclusion, this chair is a stunning example of a masterfully crafted piece of furniture. Its quality and design are unparalleled, and its history and provenance add to its appeal. This chair is not just a functional piece of furniture, but it is also a work of art that will add a touch of sophistication to any room it graces.

By Eugenio Gerli, Società Compensati Curvati

These beautiful bentwood chairs were designed in 1958 by the Italian architect Eugenio Gerli for Società Compensatie Curvi. This company, which was located in Monza at the time, specialized in manufacturing highly stylized chairs made of bentwood with a modular choice offered to the customer. For example, there was a catalog showing that at that time you could choose from different types of bases and bodies. These specific lounge chairs are made up of seven layers of glued and bent teak veneer. A special example of craftsmanship and artistry in which technique and aesthetics effortlessly come together. The body is attached to a beautiful slender black-painted metal base by means of four bolts. The considerable contrast between the base and the seating area seems to make the chair float. The opening at the back of the seat allows for an angelic light...
