Edward Wormley Slipper Lounge Chairs, Pair

About the Item

“Furniture is needed for practical reasons, and because it must be there, it may as well be as pleasant as possible to look at, and in a less definable psychological way, comforting to the spirit.” Edward Wormley. Pair of slipper lounge chairs model no. 5000-A from the Decorator Group—are a classic Wormley design. Graciously proportioned, impeccable construction each chair with curving front, deep and dimensional hardwood frames in an espresso finish. Upholstered in a super soft ivory colored Bouclé upholstery. The look is modern, clean and fresh. They have been professionally restored to mint condition. One of his most iconic and classic designs for Dunbar, Wormley's armless slipper lounge chair is still the best in this category. Literature: Edward Wormley: The Other Face of Modernism, Gura, Kennedy and Weinberg, ppg. 16, 63. Dunbar: Fine Furniture of the 1950s, Leslie Piña, ppg. 67, 180-181. Dunbar/Dux, General Interiors Catalog, unpaginated.
