Rare English Victorian Mahogany Reclining Library Chair, circa 1840

About the Item

This rare Victorian mahogany reclining library chair was made circa 1840. The mahogany frame with the sliding footrest that is stored under the chair, then slides out on a runner for you to use if required. The buttoned leather wing-back reclines to various settings to allow you to get an angle to suit your needs. It will lay back to an angle that you could sleep on if you so wished. Our upholsterer with nearly 40 years of experience has re-upholstered this wonderful chair in the traditional manner, using raw/undyed leather. Once done, he then handed it to our specialist, who has worked on many important collections, including of the British Royal family including HM Queen Elizabeth. She then took on the long task of hand dying it in the olive green colour, before the final antique finishes so that this looks as if the leather has been on the chair all of its life. Imagine owning this rare and impressive library chair. How good it will feel as you set the angle you require before relaxing back and letting the strains of modern life fall away. I'm sure your family and friends will be fighting to try it out and hopefully allow you to sit in it again yourself! 62.5cms wide across the arm rests 24 1/4ins 84cms deep when the back is upright 34 1/2ins 103cms high 40 1/2ins
