Pierre Chapo, bench S18y "Love Seat", elm wood and original leather, 1970 Nice original lounge sofa model S18Y "love Seat" designed by Pierre Chapo and manufactured in his own workshop, France 1970s. This sofa illustrates the technical prowess of the 48 x 72 assembly. The crosspieces of the frame are long and very solid thanks to the four assembly points that can support the weight of 2 people. The carefully crafted back features two thick leather corners. This is one of the most powerful designs by Pierre Chapo as this design required a lot of thinking to carry both strength and beauty. The love seat is for me the better example of that as the proportions are at its best. Made of solid elmwood and thick brown original leather. Fully original and in stunning condition with minor patina from age and usage. Comfortable seating. Pierre Chapo is amongst the most uprising designers from the French soil. Catching up with the renowed works by Charlotte Perriand as the quality is very similar and the style very close to the designs by Perriand.
