RB Rocking Chair, Modern Woodsport Rocker Handcrafted in Walnut
About the Item
Woodsport RB rocking chair. Named after the running bond pattern in which bricks are laid. Individual pieces are laced together with high grade polyester rope, creating a soft surface that flexes with the occupant. The chair is detailed with burl beads. Most of our RB chairs are made with black rope, this one is shown in blue. Rope cleats under the seat make for easy tightening. Designed as a lounge chair in 2006 by Scott McGlasson, the rocker version was adapted in 2018.

Woodsport is a furniture studio based in St. Paul, MN. We have been designing and producing hand-made hardwood furniture and lighting pieces for residential, corporate, institutional, and hospitality clients since 2000. Design influences range from mid-century modernism to industrial components to Shaker principles. My designs typically start from a simple form, which I then bend, laminate, join, turn, shape, color to make pieces that are unique and exciting while still adhering to principles of simplicity and utility. I relish subtle details that are executed with perfect craftsmanship. Lovely Mid-Century Modern high back rocker comprised of an oak frame and the original nubby rust and gold chenille fabric. This rocking chair is in beautiful condition, keeping in mind that it is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The original fabric on the rocker has wear on the ends of the arms and some of the loops are clipped. Will need reupholstered eventually and is priced accordingly. Oak frame has been newly refinished, and we re-glued the seat joints & reinforced for longevity. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1940-1950’s.
