About the Item

A most decorative and handsome Italian 19th century Renaissance st. Ebony and Bone inlayed Settee. This exquisite settee is raised on eight mottled legs and supported on topie shaped feet. Above the triple 'H' stretcher that connects all eight legs, are squared topie shaped central reserves below the straight apron. The front facing straight apron displays rectangular panels showcasing wonderful Bone inlays of Rocaille designs that are flanked by Ebony panels and rosette inlays at each corner. Flanking the upholstered seat are the square arms displaying handsome bone inlays throughout and connecting to the impressive backrest. The backrest is comprised of three arbalest shaded panels separated by mottled and turned supports. Each of the three panels displays an exceptional Milanese scene, with the central panel depicting a man in classical attire while flanked by intricately detailed maidens at each side. Each panel is joined by a handsome top crown with wonderful carved scrolled accents and additional foliate bone inlays.
