Antique Victorian Ornate Slipper Chair
About the Item
Circa 1890-1910 this antique Victorian slipper chair is American made and constructed of solid, smooth mahogany with ornately carved wood plane detail, lathe-fashioned spindles, cabriole legs, and a lowered seat. The blush pink and cream striped upholstery is original and in great condition with minor wear commensurate with age, and is mark free.
One small defect observed on backrest upon close examination, does not take away from functionality. Solid wood frame is strong/sturdy in great condition. Please examine photos carefully for details.
With a lowered seat height of approximately 15 inches this is an excellent choice to complement the boudoir, master bedroom, or entryway; lending tribute to its original purpose and continual functionality, which was intended to provide a specialized convenience for the elaborate dressings characterized by the fashion of well-dressed ladies in the 19th century. A highly sought staple piece commemorative of high society evoking the nostalgia and elegance of the Victorian era.
