About the Item

This exceptional three-seater sofa is eccentric in the best way possible; with a large curved body and a one of a kind upholstery, both of which recall the Art Deco style of the 1930s while retaining the recognizable touches of mid-century modernism as well. Thanks to its crescent shape, this sofa is designed to bring people closer together to create a cosy atmosphere, which has been a core concept of Scandinavian design. Many of the well-known architects felt the urge to try their hands at “Nordic Art Deco”, even though the style’s focus on luxury and decorative elements constitutes a creative contradiction to the period’s streamlined modernism. Nevertheless, in combination with the unadorned style of Scandinavian mid-century modern design, this sofa brings together some of the best characteristics of both styles. The fluid, sculptural design features elegant curves with wide, open surfaces to show off the unique pairing of fabrics, materials, and colours. A sofa is a great place to really make an impact with a colourful, bold and bright design as it is often the main focal point in a space. Patterned upholstery can be show stopping and add personality not just to a room but to the whole interior. A bold pattern makes a fearless statement, especially a colourful, large scale one like on this sofa’s seat. The figurative feline print on this sofa is the main source of visual interest, supported by the curves of the body that matches with the print’s “movement”. To keep the overall look from being overwhelming, the back is covered in a brown velour fabric that complements the pattern and adds depth to the curve. This stylish combination has several merits and also taps into another current design trend: colour mixing. Structurally, the sofa is supported by three pairs of conical wooden legs that provide organicity and the mid-century Scandinavian touch. The visual appearance is certainly the main focus of this sofa, but the exquisite craftsmanship under the fully upholstered body also deserves to be highlighted.
