About the Item

Unique opportunity for a custom upholstery project in a wool fabric of your choice, contact us for further details and fabric possibilities Nanna Ditzel 'Mondial' Sofa 1968 Getama edition from 2000 Very comfortable, I tried it myself and this is one of the best sitting sofa's I sat on in my career In 1968, female designer Nanna Ditzel married the English furniture dealer Kurt Heide. They settled in London, where together they created the international showroom Interspace. During these years, Nanna designed a series of upholstered furniture, including the Mondial series. The Mondial series was developed in collaboration with the English car seat company LPC Upholstery, while Scandus in London was responsible for the production of the series. Mondial is intended as an elegant modern design with an appeal to timelessness. The basic element is a simple curved shape that gives the furniture its organic expression. The expression that is so typical of Nanna Ditzel's design, and which once again means that the furniture can be viewed from all sides. When Nanna Ditzel and GETAMA decided to relaunch the Mondial series in 2000, the furniture was further developed so that it became smaller in size and thus better suited the Danish home of the time.

Leif Hansen "Model 62" Sofa for Kronen Møbelfabrikken, Denmark, 1960s
By Kronen, Leif Hansen
Located in Utrecht, NL
Leif Hansen’s Model 62 sofa is commonly referred to as the “Geisha” and was designed in 1959. This model is a strikingly elegant example of Danish modernism’s streamlined, luxurious aesthetic appeal to contemporary eyes. This three-seater sofa is made of two types of exotic woods and dressed in a premium light fabric. Its character is created by three main elements: the visually sectioned, fully upholstered body, the wooden accents on the arms, and the distinctively shaped legs. It says a lot when a model is representative not only of a designer, but also of a manufactory. So is the case with this Geisha sofa...
