About the Item

Rare Swedish Biedermeier 2-3 seat sofa couch in classic light honey color French polish finish with wonderful curved arm detailing and ormolu style decorative ends and motifs in the highest quality quilted golden birch veneers and ormolu style ball feet. Measure: 190cm. This is a perfect sofa for show and for use - its comfy to sit on and looks really superb Good example of the Swedish Biedermeier style and has a very satisfying curve to the legs and lots of carved detailing - there is some small movement in the veneers in places as expected of a piece of this age. It is a real impact piece with the swooping arms and a fully sprung seat for added comfort. It comes with a pair of bolsters. The sofa features the original fabric which is in relatively reasonable condition for its age or we can reupholster for you in your supplied fabric for an extra cost. The sofa will be re-polished prior to shipping to remove any major flaws but we always leave some of the 'life' the sofa has acquired when we re-polish as otherwise it will lose its feeling. The sofa ships in the original fabric which may have some marks of wear and tear. The sofa back as with all Biedermeier sofas of this period is plain wood rather than veneer - we can reupholster it in hessian or your supplied fabric to cover the back prior to shipping leaving only a small amount of wood on show included in the re-upholstery cost.
