English Charles II carved oak marriage coffer, dated 1684. Three paneled chest, top rail hand carved with initials and marriage year: 'MI, 1684'. A plain plank lift up top with open space within. Missing section on interior bottom right, split to leg on front left, earlier repairs evident. Notwithstanding, good overall condition for age and use. Measures: 53.88" wide x 21.5" deep x 29.88" high - overall dimensions 49.75" wide x 17.5" deep x 21" high - interior dimensions Provenance: Private Collection, Southampton, New York.
