Wonderful Gothic Revival chest with an amazing presence. If you like Gothic Revival furniture then we are certain you will like this quality carved and intricate chest. This fine and practical specimen comes with very attractive, church-window-like panels and folded book pages on the sides. This solid oak chest has some wonderful and deeply carved Gothic scenes and the guards standing on pillars on both corners are like the gatekeepers to this marvelous chest. This rare, stylish and highly decorative antique was initially made as a blanket chest, but in this day and age it can be used for all kinds of practical purposes and it will, for example, look marvelous at the footend of your bed, in a large entrance, on a landing etc. This obviously is not a 16th century chest, but this early 20th century Gothic Revival antique was made in the exact same manner using the exact same skills with wooden pin and hole connections. Also, the hinges of the lid of this fine chest are connected to the solid oak border with hand-forged iron nails. The lid, by the way, still opens and shuts perfectly as well. Apart from a few minor moist spots on the top of the lid, this antique chest is of museum quality and condition (both inside and out) and we are certain that it will be gracing a new owner's home soon.
