About the Item

This small scale Louis XIII style hand-carved oak dessert buffet from the late nineteenth century features carvings on three sides. Cartouches and scrolling in bas relief carving adorn the die joints. The drawer front below the beveled top is additionally detailed with deep relief carvings of scrolling, eagles, and leopard heads. Standing on classic Louis XIII barley twist legs that rest on plinth feet, this piece features a dovetailed drawer with a bronze drawer pull as well as two lower levels for additional display space. A multi-beveled skirt around the bottom level completes the look. Ideal as a console table, serving buffet, entry piece, or bar, its 26 inch width and 18 inch depth make it a versatile piece for small scale living. circa 1880.
