Antique Meiji Era Japanese Kansai Style Cypress and Cedar Merchant's Tansu Chest

About the Item

A stunning Japanese antique Meiji Era Kansai style cyprus and cedar merchant's tansu chest with multiple doors and drawers. The buttery soft original waxed finish is a rich golden brown over the natural cyprus and cedar woods. Cabinets such as these were used for kitchenware and documents. All of the iron hardware is original and gorgeous. Drawers glide easily and doors slide beautifully. Condition commensurate with age and use. Small random scratches. Smooth waxed finish is butter soft. Doors and drawers glide easily.
