Gorgeous Antique Ebonized and Ormolu Cabinet

About the Item

"This luxury cabinet is exquisitely crafted by artisans under Napoleon III in the famous Empire, Consulat style of the 1800s to 1815s. Empire style stands out for its symmetry of motifs. In the 19th century, the empire style was seen as embodying conciseness and imperial grandeur through many signs and symbols such as the often-repeated N, tight braids, torches, or eagles. The distinctive motifs of Empire style are evident in the gorgeous antique ebonized and gilt bronze cabinet. Above the cabinet is thick white marble that gives a sophisticated and elegant feel. The border around the top of the cabinet is an ormolu pattern that curves up and down continuously. Below the zigzag outline, the curve looks like a repeating N, it's a floral and leaf pattern. In it, the multi-petal flower is fully enclosed in a circle, helping to increase the intense contrast for the black of the ebony and the aristocratic yellow of the gilt bronze. The textures are all very interconnected to create many different layers of black and yellow contrast. Multi-petal flower motifs are used dotted at the corners of the cabinet to create accents. The two columns on either side of the front corner of the cabinet are carved with symmetrical figures. The capital of the column is decorated with an ormolu human head and acanthus leaf motif. The two columns have a corinthian-like structure because the base and capital parts are decorated with many layers of acanthus. The aprons at the bottom of the cabinet are a curved acanthus pattern like a crown. It creates an extra layer of meaning reminiscent of classical art. The cabinet's four bases are classic soft round bases. In the middle of the cabinet is a bas-relief depicting a small angel with free wings. Cherub is spreading flowers as if blessing the world clearly through the perfect proportions of ormolu. Cloud-like wave-like ridges surround the cherub. Above the relief of the cherub is a beautiful dore bow knot. Outside the oval relief is a small four-leaf clover with the meaning of bringing great luck and happiness to the world."
