About the Item

A Chinese late Qing Dynasty period red lacquered cabinet from the early 20th century, with butterfly hardware, two drawers, four doors, carved and gilt décor. Created in China during the late Qing Dynasty period in the early years of the 20th century, this cabinet showcases a linear silhouette perfectly complimented by a red lacquer. The cabinet features two doors in the upper section, folding outwards to reveal inner shelves. These doors are adorned with a delicately carved décor depicting mythical animals, foliage and scrolls highlighted with golden touches. The central part presents two drawers with teardrop pulls and dovetail construction. The bottom is concluded by two larger folding doors, fitted with butterfly hardware. They open to an additional storage area. The side panels are also decorated at the top with carved motifs, presenting vases and scrolls framed in meander friezes. The ensemble is raised on four short feet with apron in the front and side stretchers. With its nice proportions and red and gold color, this Chinese late Qing Dynasty period cabinet circa 1900 will make for a wonderful addition to any home, placed in a bedroom or living room!
