Pair of Chinese Export Lacquered Flora Fauna Cabinets

About the Item

Dramatic pair of Chinese export black lacquered cabinets decorated with colorful flora and fauna. The cabinets are fronted by two large doors that open to a storage area. The doors have patinated iron lock plates, pulls, and hinges with hobnails. The cabinets are supported by square legs having shaped aprons. The cases are decorated with vibrant colored pigments of birds and flowers with parcel gilt accents throughout. The republic period cabinets have a charming aged patina with craquelure to commensurate age and use. Sold as a pair. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
