About the Item

A pair of Scandinavian mid-century cabinets from the Futura range, designed by Swedish architect David Rosén for the renowned department store Nordiska Kompaniet in 1949. Crafted from teak veneer with a beech frame, and featuring brass handles and fittings. Each cabinet is fitted with adjustable shelves. Produced in the early 1950s, both retain their original Nordiska Kompaniet metal plates. The renowned Swedish department store Nordiska Kompaniet, NK, opened in Stockholm in 1902. It played a significant role in introducing modern and innovative retail practices to Sweden, bringing the concept of a department store to the city and offering a wide range of goods under one roof. The company had their workshops in Nyköping, which were known for their exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to quality. NK often collaborated with renowned designers to create unique and innovative pieces. These collaborations resulted in furniture and decor items that were highly sought after and considered design classics.
