19th Century Italian Walnut Louis XVI Commode

About the Item

Louis XVI commode hand-made in central Italy in the early 1800s using walnut. The chest shows rounded corners and turned legs, as well as three inlaid drawers with flat fronts and beautiful hand-made dovetail joints. The drawers are decorated by a simple cherry shield inlaid escutcheon. The sides are made of chamfered inset panels framed by molding, and the top features three boards with flat sides and rounded corners, following the shape of the case. This is a beautifully simple chest, built to last and used on a daily basis. Despite its age the drawers are still fully functional and can provide plenty of storage space. The color of the walnut will add warmth and a homey feeling to any room it will be added to.
