19th Century Louis XV Style Commode in Flower Marquetry
About the Item
We present you this large ornamental transition Louis XV-style chest of drawers in exquisite floral marquetry, dating from the Napoleon III era. It features two drawers without a crossbar as well as a curved front and sides standing on cabriole legs. Elaborate gilt bronze embellishments of interlace adorn its front and sides as well as the mountings, such as the drop handles, uprights, and feet, all of which are also decorated with rich gilt bronze ornamental details. The frontal gilt bronze elements are set within ornamental frames, while the drawer handles seamlessly integrate into the overall decorative design of the furniture. The top is mounted with a stunning double-bevelled red Brèche marble from Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume in the Var department, attesting to the luxury and craftsmanship of this furniture. Mounted on oak, this chest of drawers has been re-varnished using French polish by our expert cabinetmaker, and all the gilt bronzes have been thoroughly cleaned. This chest of drawers was crafted in a Parisian workshop of the renowned Faubourg Saint-Antoine, known as the heart of fine French cabinetmaking. We suggest that this chest of drawers would make a perfect choice for enhancing the antique decor of a living room or entrance.
