19th Century Louis XV-Style Marquetry Sideboard with a Wedgwood Plaque
About the Item
We present you with this exquisite sideboard, representing the Transition style of Louis XV and hailing from the opulent era of Napoleon III in the 19th century. It is adorned with marquetry and opens with a single door and a drawer. Its sides, elegantly curved, contribute to its overall graceful silhouette. The door is enriched with a Wedgwood plaque portraying a draped ancient woman delicately balancing a bowl of fruits upon her head. The porcelain embellishment is framed by a border of gilded bronze. A lavish gilded bronze trim coupled with four petite rosettes surrounds the door and completes the ornamental ensemble. The drawer, in turn, features a gilded bronze frieze of ovals that extends along its sides. The sideboard's four legs are embellished with bronze sabots and dainty drops. The crowning glory of the buffet is its projection in violet marble, specifically the Breccia Medici. This piece is a product of the renowned workshops in Parisian Faubourg Saint Antoine and is a nod to Sormani's craftsmanship.
