Antique George II Walnut Chest On Chest
About the Item
An antique Georgian walnut chest on chest with three short drawers below a moulded crown above three long drawers in the upper cabinet and over 3 long drawers in the lower case. The drawers flanked by fluted and cantered side panels and the whole raised up on bracket feet. The chest with batwing brass hardware and escutcheons. Lacking a key.
Provenance: Purchased from Agostino Antiques in 1987.
Dimensions: 40 1/2" W at base, 20 3/4" D at base, 71" H overall (each piece approx. 36" H)
Condition: Restoration recommended. There is wear and stable age splits to the boards on the sides, chips and losses to the upper crown, notably to the front corner. One brass handle is missing its swing handle and knob. Wear to the drawers and some surface scuffs to the walnut surfaces, trim losses shown in photos and a rack to veneer on bottom drawer. Despite wear the chest presents very well for its age and wear is commensurate with age and handling. See lot images as they are considered included in the condition report.
