French Louis Philippe period walnut bleached commode

Louis Philippe French dresser. It dates from the middle of the 19th century. The wood is in bleached walnut bramble. This technique aims to lighten the furniture on the one hand and on the other hand it allows to bring out the magnificent grain of the flamed walnut. This dresser has a very beautiful natural color. Walnut brambles are flamed because they have many aesthetic motifs. These drawings feature complex patterns with high contrast and tangled veins. Thus, the walnut bramble perfectly imitates a theater curtain. On the outside of the chest of drawers we see boxwood nets embedded in the wood. This chest of drawers is equipped with 4 drawers, one of which is called "doucine". It is hidden in the upper belt of the chest of drawers. The drawers are mounted in dovetail ensuring perfect strength. This is how drawers can be opened daily and contain many sometimes heavy objects. The entrances do not protrude from the surface. They are brass and have the shape of a heart. Each lock has its own key. The dresser rests on low legs that respect the shape of the furniture at the front and two straight feet at the back. The top of the chest of drawers is a Saint-Anne grey marble. The marble is richly veined and in perfect condition. In the 19th century, all the renowned houses had a Louis-Phillipe dresser with simple and elegant lines. Wear consistent with age and use. Very good condition. This piece of furniture has been carefully cleaned and revised in our workshop by myself and my professional cabinetmakers. Our workshop is open every day from 8 am to 7 pm and our warehouse is full of curiosities.
