Pair of 19th century painted pine Swedish chest of drawers

About the Item

Pair of 19th century painted pine Swedish commodes circa 1880. Here we have 2 decorative chest of drawers from Sweden painted in the gustavian taste. Stepped rectangular top's and canted corners, with dentil moulding around the outside.  Each chest fitted with 3 graduating drawers,  cartouche panels inset in the top drawer, fitted with later handles, working locks and key.  Applied moulding and channeled detailing down each front edge.   All raised on tapered legs. Later paint which has been washed back, this has allowed the grain of the wood to show through the paintwork, further fading from use. Good quality chest of drawers that would work well in multiple rooms around the home. Obvious fading to paintwork, minor surface marks and small indentations to top surface, in line with age and use.
