Regence Style Palisander Parquetry Inlaid Bow Front Commode
About the Item
With inlaid parquetry top and parquetry inlaid front corner stiles. Very pretty patina and polish. Perfect bed size chest.
The front façade in a shallow bow typical of Regence style with rounded front corners . Secondary (drawer sides etc. ) wood is oak .

W: 37.5
D: 21
Top with center crack professionally filled (see photo ) and blending well with the inlay pattern and kingwood graining. Minor losses, repairs, mainly at very lower edge of bottom apron. Typical surface wear and Blemishes to the fine French Polish finish . No key. Repairs to inner drawers and back (fabric tape see photos).
While it retains certain features of Louis XIV furniture, Régence period furniture relaxes its lines to offer more lightness, whimsy and elegance. The curved line appears. The emancipation of the rococo style begins. A transitional style, the Régence proclaims the great themes of the Louis XV style, in particular chinoiserie, animated motifs of foliage, rosettes, seashells.
Wear and use with good maintenance.
