A unique signed original Baroque Sauteuse commode from the 18th century. Exceptionally executed, this elegant German mid-sized walnut cabinet presents with absolutely beautiful inlay works, including patchwork marquetry, scrolled inlay and fine inlayed thread work that provide this unique period commode a fine touch of luxury. Finished in Rococo Louis XV taste, the artisans carefully selected highest quality, warm, rich woods, including burled walnut, fruitwood, olive wood, burl maple and various other exotic woods. Having a serpentine shaped top and case fitted with two gorgeous curved drawers, each with parcel-gilt brass pulls and interior paper lining marked Fabrication Allemande. Both the case and drawers have been joined by hand carved dovetail joinery. Resting over a wonderfully shaped and hand carved solid walnut base, accented by simple scroll running ornamentation carvings along the apron, gracefully rising on high cabriole legs, terminating on hoof feet. Signed/Stamped, interior, legible.

An absolute masterpiece of mid 18th century Italian craftsmanship is this unbelievable artfully crafted marquetry chest of drawers out of Milan. Made around 1760 with highest attention to details, this one of a kind museum-quality commode is not only a precious item of antique furniture, much more it is a real smart investment. The very time-consuming restoration of this masterpiece took us more than 9 weeks and has been done by our most experienced master of restoration. The ultimate goal was it to restore it the old way to keep the unbelievable charme of this valuable 18th century dresser. With an age of more than 260 years, this remarkable rare chest of drawers comes with an elegant shaped body made of spruce and poplar, elaborately set nutwood/ cherry veneer and incredible marquetry works all over this unique italian commode. Providing two large drawers, this outstanding 18th century dresser is adorned by fantastic looking, inlayed depicitions of women surrounded by extensively designed round frames made of maple, nut and plum wood. The largest depiction on the front even runs over both drawers. The top plate is an absolute highlight, impressing with this amazing worked 3D-effect frame made of fine ebony, maple and plum wood which looks like a spiral. The same design has also been used on the front of this precious chest of drawers. The second frame with a slight green shine has been additionally surrounded by thin maple threads. Other exceptional 3D effect maple inlays in form of chain links can be found on both sides of the front pilasters. This exceptional "chain" effect is reinforced by so-called "Schwarlot" paintings - a technique which confers it this special depth. The Commode of Rare Classical Neoclassical Form, with a beautiful warm color is a wonderful example of perspective marquetry, in the tradition of Giuseppe Maggiolini and his pupil Giovanni Maffezzoli; most likely made by Tommaso Pezzoni (who learned his trade in the workshop of Maffezzoli) in the early 19th century.
Inlaid top with a center-roundel showing a youth reclining on a chaise in front of a classical temple, above four drawers, the fronts forming an architectural, perspective scene showing buildings and ruins, fountains, sculptures and a boy resting on a toppled column accompanied by a playing dog, flanked by caryatids topped with gilt bronze classical heads and ending in gilt bronze feet. The sides featuring medallions with urns. Intricate inlaid borders framing each scene. Square inlaid block feet.
Constructed of solid walnut and inlaid with various exotic woods (including olive wood, boxwood, amaranth, palm wood).
