19th C. Anglo Indian Regency Carved Mahogany & Padouk Sideboard / Credenza

About the Item

This Regal Anglo Indian Regency Carved Mahogany & Padouk Sideboard / Credenza was handmade in the Nineteenth Century. The British Colonial Sideboard is hand carved solid mahogany and padouk wood. The highly carved cabinet has a highly figured solid Padouk Slab Top with a carved edge and sits on a refined frieze hand carved with egg & dart, acanthus leaf, and reed & rod. The cupboard case has three intricately carved doors that have blind and pierced carved vines, foliage, and fruits. The door panels are pierced carved from the solid mahogany and are framed using mortise and tenon pegged joints with blind carving. The doors are flanked by carved columns having fluted twist with the right two mirroring the left two. The column bases and capitals match each other with reverse acanthus flowers and a rosette. The cabinet is supported on a shaped carved plinth with six carved Monopodium Feet. The sides are elegantly carved with sunburst paneled ends. These cabinets are also referred to as a Dry Bar.
