Joseph Hoffman (based on a design by), Weekly sideboard

About the Item

Joseph Hoffmann (based on a design by) Crtnice, 1870 - Vienna, 1956 Weekly wooden cabinet painted in cream and black color. Italy, late 1960s - early 1970s cm. 120x118x48 The proposed piece of furniture, in very good condition, echoes one of the most iconic pieces of furniture by the great Austrian architect Joseph Hoffmann for whose biography we refer you to the article in the Blog section of our website. The cabinet, a drawing of which can be found in the volume Joseph Hoffmann. Interiors 1902-1913 curated by the Neue Galerie, New York, is referred to as "simple supplies." It is actually a very complex and elaborate piece of furniture with sinuous and innovative lines, certainly revolutionary for its time and still relevant today. The front has seven small front drawers with an inward curved line; the sides, which are domed, have two large hinged doors; the top, above the top, has four small drawers placed two by two on either side of it. The profiles, as well as the simple, linear support structures, are made of black-stained wood. Linear backrest. It is most likely a piece of furniture created in Italy-probably in Lombardy, dating to between the sixth and seventh decades. This hypothesis is also confirmed by the particular hardware used, which bears the brand name of a well-known local manufacturing company
