About the Item

Very Rare 1930s Italian Sideboard by Gio Ponti with Turned Legs and Brass Details - Certified by Gio Ponti Archives This extraordinary 1930s Italian sideboard by master and designer Gio Ponti represents one of the purest and most elegant expressions of Italian rationalism, enriched with exquisite details. Certified by the Gio Ponti Archives (Perizia N° 24233/000), this sideboard is a unique piece of high historical and artistic value, combining functionality, aesthetics and the creative genius of one of the greatest architects and designers of the 20th century. Rare Design with Art Deco Influences Made of solid wood and featuring legs decorated with brass inserts, the sideboard is distinguished by its sober and essential lines, typical of Gio Ponti's early creative period. The tapered legs with ornamental brass motifs recall the works presented at the 1930 Monza Triennale, where Ponti proposed aluminum furniture with shaped legs very similar in concept. Recalls to Ponti's Great Projects According to the Gio Ponti Archives, the sideboard is also inspired by furniture made for Villa Vittoria in Florence and the Aula Magna of the Bo Palace in Padua, contexts in which Ponti applied his architectural vision to the world of furniture, blending geometric rigor and precious materials. Legs with brass details and lacquered surfaces testify to this design legacy, expressing a perfect balance between form and function. This long sideboard is ideal for collectors of historic design, museums or representative settings where high-end furniture blends with the history of modern architecture. Thanks to its slender structure and textural contrasts between wood and brass, the cabinet is capable of enriching living rooms, studios and museum spaces, becoming the visual centerpiece of any room.
