About the Item

This beautiful antique glazed corner cupboard was made in the United Kingdom in the early 19th century circa 1820. The cupboard breaks down into a lower and an upper cabinet. The lower cabinet is 37 inches high and features three drawers over two doors and sits on bracket feet. Both the left and right drawer are false, only the middle drawer is functional. Behind the two doors, a single fixed shelf was fitted. The height from the bottom to the shelf is 15.16 inches and 10 inches above the shelf. The upper cabinet is 43.31 inches high and features two glazed doors with three serpentine-shaped shelves on the interior. The interior heights are consecutive 9.05 inches, 10.43 inches, 10.04 inches, and 9.25 inches. The interior has the original bone color soft gloss painted finish. The upper glass panels of both doors are the authentic way glass panels, the bottom two glass panels were renewed a few decades ago. All the hardware, brass hinges, locks, keys, and knobs are authentic and fully functional. The front of the cabinet was made of solid mahogany with a beautiful grain pattern and it was stained light warm brown with a soft gloss finish. The cupboard has built up a great patina over many years. The cupboard is in great antique shape, it is clean, solid, without damage, and ready for use. The mahogany used on this cupboard is Swietenia Macrophylla and this is a wood species that is not affected by CITES regulation and can therefore be shipped across borders without problems.
